Using Lemon Myrtle Oil
Firstly this oil is strong ..much stronger than many other oils you may have used .Store and handle it very carefully. A cool dark place is best for preserving its qualities.
The lemon scent comes from a substance called citral which is also present in other lemon smelling plants like lemon grass or common lemon trees. However, the leaves of Lemon Myrtle contain more citral (95%) than any other known plant and although research is continuing in this area, Lemon Myrtle is known to be more powerful than Tea tree oil in its germicidal properties
This oil is ideal for aromatherapy uses. A few drops in an oil burner(fill burner with water first) will perfume the house & induce a sense of well being. Many people who suffer from sinus and hay fever symptoms also report relief from using the oil in this way.
In small quantities Lemon Myrtle is a bush tucker food. A few drops can be added to flavour sauces and mayonnaise after cooking is completed(this is a volatile oil ie., cooking heat will destroy its characteristics). Add two drops toa rich Ossobucco just before serving for a delicate enhancer.
Lemon Myrtle Oil must be diluted before use in any way where it will come in contact with the skin.Be careful to wash hands after handling bottle and before touching sensitive areas such as lips or eyes. As a guide 15 drops equals 1 ml, and 3 drops is plenty for an average oil burner.
A maximum of 2% pure oil is recommended as an addition to any carrier base oil or cream if intended for skin use. None scented products like a Vitamin A or E cream base, or Wheatgerm or Almond oil base can be used.
